Marshall 1.31<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is my response post to the two videos we watched. First, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BEbW2fXSShc\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BEbW2fXSShc\">Movie Poster Expert Explains Color Schemes<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>White background<\/strong>: Controversial opinion: I&#8217;ve always hated red and white. I understand from a marketing perspective why you would want a poster that immediately grabs people&#8217;s eyes, but there are so many other ways to do it that would be visually appealing for me personally. I also don&#8217;t really care for raunchy humor, which may explain my distaste for this style of poster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-5-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-61\" style=\"width:437px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-5-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-5-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-5-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-5-1536x864.png 1536w, https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-5-2048x1152.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Groan Ups<\/em>, 2019<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>White<\/strong> (in general): I find these to be cleaner and classier than their red cousin, which I appreciate. It also stands out in a similar way which is good for marketing. I thought it was interesting that he said it portrays what to expect from the movie. They are often used in action\/thriller posters and have the (main) character running in the middle. To me, this poster specifically was a great example of this color scheme and I really liked how it looked. And, he says it, &#8220;has its roots in film noir&#8221;, very cool!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"452\" height=\"678\" src=\"https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-7.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-63\" style=\"width:288px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-7.png 452w, https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-7-200x300.png 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 452px) 100vw, 452px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Paycheck<\/em>, 2003<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Film noir<\/strong>: Definitely my favorite so far. I love old time-y movie posters. It reminds me of Archie comics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"474\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-8.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-64\" style=\"width:244px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-8.png 474w, https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-8-198x300.png 198w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>This Gun For Hire<\/em>, 1942<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Yellow<\/strong>: Apparently this is used to represent low-budget indie movies, which I wouldn&#8217;t have been able to guess, but it does make sense. I like yellow so I definitely appreciate this one,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"452\" height=\"678\" src=\"https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-10.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-66\" style=\"width:329px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-10.png 452w, https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-10-200x300.png 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 452px) 100vw, 452px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Capitalism, A Love Story<\/em>, 2009<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Xerox<\/strong> <strong>Quality<\/strong>: I know I said film noir was my favorite, but this definitely takes the cake. I imagine that maybe one is based off of the other? I love these kinds of posters. This is the kind of movie poster I would put up on my wall. I know technology is all about getting better, more impressive, and more modern, but you just can&#8217;t beat perfection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"691\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image-1-691x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-95\" style=\"width:398px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image-1-691x1024.png 691w, https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image-1-203x300.png 203w, https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image-1.png 736w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 691px) 100vw, 691px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Wake in Fright<\/em>, 1971<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Black, white, &amp; orange<\/strong>: I don&#8217;t know if it&#8217;s me and my lack of interest in action movies, but I don&#8217;t care for this at all. I find it to be too severe and has too much going on. Can&#8217;t say I like it, unfortunately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"431\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image-2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-96\" style=\"width:307px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image-2.png 431w, https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image-2-259x300.png 259w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 431px) 100vw, 431px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Transporter 3<\/em>, 2007<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Blue and Orange<\/strong>: I knew I loved it as soon as I saw it, but them, when he said that the orange is used to &#8220;lead the eye to the key focus of the narrative&#8221;? Too good. I loved Star Wars: A New Hope as a kid, if it could be made even better. No notes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"570\" height=\"806\" src=\"https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image-4.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-98\" style=\"width:281px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image-4.png 570w, https:\/\/mmarshalll.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/image-4-212x300.png 212w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 570px) 100vw, 570px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Star Wars: A New Hope<\/em>, 1997<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The second video was from Vox on <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/_a1lp_ygGB4\">Stranger Things&#8217; Retro Title Sequence<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I watched Stranger Things, I didn&#8217;t really watch the title sequence because it creeped me out too much. I liked seeing the other typographics they looked at before choosing theirs. ITC Bengat is very recognizable so I thought it was a great choice. Using the kodaliths to look even more 80&#8217;s was very impressive to me. It&#8217;s cool to recognize the work that goes into something that I wouldn&#8217;t even notice, like a title sequence.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>M.
